Notes
Laird: "On master LTR260 the program is as follows: An announcer (Howard Griffin) states that it is three minutes to midnight and the beginning of 1930; the orchestra plays 'Farewell blues'; June Parker sings 'Green lantern of mystery' (written by Leigh Harline); the violin section of the orchestra plays 'Tambourine Chinois'; The Four Boys sing a scat vocal version of 'Piccolo Pete'; The 49'ers (a musical group) play 'Turkey in the straw'; Leigh Harline sings 'Pretty little maid of old Madrid'; the orchestra plays 'China boy'; Elvia Allman sings 'Ain't misbehavin'; Charlie Wellman sings 'American pep time'; bells peal, voices shout 'Goodbye 1929' and 'Hello 1930' followed by cheering; then the whole company (presumably) closes with 'Auld lang syne.' The Four Boys (a vocal/instrumental group clearly influenced by Paul Whiteman's Rhythm Boys) was Chappie Ryan, violin & vocal; Bob Hartham, violin & vocal; Gordon Reimers, vocal; and Roy Ringwald, piano & vocal. There is no actual label name on this issue (the labels have a gold background with green lettering and holly leaves and red holly berries around the border)."
Brunswick's "LTR" master prefix indicates a private, or test, recording. Laird indicates "A" as the "issued" take and notes the size as 12-inch.
Session indicated as held from 9:30AM to 12:50PM.
Documentation of Brunswick Records derives primarily from Ross Laird's "Brunswick Records: A discography of recordings, 1916-1931" (Greenwood Press, 2001). See the ADP Brunswick Records Resources page for more information.
