Description and instrumentation provided by collector Jonathan Clark. Mr. Clark notes, "Although the word 'mariachi' is conspicuously absent from any Victor documentation related to the Cuarteto Coculense, these (and sessions recorded contemporaneously by this same group for Edison and Columbia) represent the earliest known recorded examples of the mariachi tradition."
