| Brooks/Rust: "Columbia did not reveal the names of the singers on these [30709 and 30710] 'popular priced' versions of two operatic warhorses, which listed for only $1.25 per disc. Carlo Cartica, ten, Rosa Linde Wright, contr, Cesare Alessandroni, bar, and Irma Wright-Heims, sop, are believed to be on both; the other two members of the sextette are unknown. The reason for the secrecy was presumably so as not to overshadow Columbia's "celebrity versions" of the same selections (coupled on A5177), which sold for $7.50." |
