Laird: "The following comments are on the reverse of the recording sheet: 'Jim Beal hails from Goldwater, Miss., and is a Baptist preacher. He came to Chicago to see some relatives, and was discovered preaching on a street in Chicago. He is an unadulterated real Southern preacher, who has the primitive Negro expression. I think he is a find and will be a big record seller- Jack Kapp.'"
