| The General Motors Parade of Progress was a themed road show about scientific research, engineering, and technological advances representing “American progress.” The presentations included a stage show in an Aerodome tent and animated exhibits in several purpose-built vehicles called “Futureliners” that could be opened out to operate marquees, stage platforms, lighting towers, and public address systems. The original Parade toured in 1936; the second tour started at the 1939 New York World’s Fair and toured across the United States, making stops in small towns and rural areas. |
