Source(s): Victor ledgers.
Victor ledgers note that this was originally a "trial" recording (audition) that was later accepted and numbered: "Four 12-inch to be finished for approval."
Victor ledgers: "These recordings are of singing, whistling, and general spiritual noises produced by 'Black Cloud' thru the medium Miss Besinnet sitting at the table with eight people in the completely darkened room. The eight people sitting with Miss Besinnet: Mr. and Mrs. Finley, Mr. Lockheart, Mr. and Mrs. E. T. King, Mr. LeRoy Shield, Mr. Nat Shilkret, and C. S. Althouse. Lew Layton operated [a Victrola]. A Victrola was necessary to complete this sitting and was played continuously. The records used were brought by the medium."
