Victor catalogs: "These records have been recorded for use in demonstrating the effect of removal of various parts of the sound frequency spectrum on the characteristics of music, speech and the combination of both. In addition the effect of overloading the amplifiers through which the frequencies pass can be shown. They will be very helpful in training an observer so that he can better judge types of reproduction and reasons for the various types of distortion."
