American Record Companies and Producers, 1888-1950 Now Available
The second edition of Allan Sutton's American Record Companies and Producers, 1888-1950 is now available as a free PDF download. The 2nd edition updates the 2018 edition with new, expanded, and revised entries. It contains detailed entries on more than 1,300 companies and producers, and the nearly 1,900 disc and cylinder brands they produced, from the beginning of commercial recording in 1888 to the start of the LP era in 1950.
The original entries have been thoroughly revised and expanded, drawing on a wealth of reliable, primary-source information that has become available since the first edition was published in 2018. Many new entries have also been added, along with a label concordance keyed to entry names.
The UCSB Library is pleased to continue its partnership with Mainspring Press to make its publications widely available to scholars, collectors, and the public.
