Fernán Silva Valdés

Fernán Silva Valdés (Montevideo, 15 October 1887 – 9 January 1975) was a Uruguayan poet, composer and dramatist.

With Gerardo Matos Rodríguez in music create the Song montevideana and share in the gender two subjects: Margarita punzó (1927) and I had a girlfriend (1930). Later it writes the letter of the tango Like the carnation of the air for John of God Filiberto.

It was member of the National Academy of Letters of the Uruguay. In the first months of 1972 was him conferred the Big National Prize of Literature.
