Howard Rye, in his notes accompanying the Document compact disc, writes that "Kansas City Kitty" is a pseudonym that was possibly used by more than one female vocalist. She recorded more than 16 sides for Vocalion in 1930 and 1931. Rye speculates that the four titles recorded for Victor in 1934 are sung by Thelma Holmes.
